The Broom
There are memories we all have of our childhood and as I look back through really old pictures of me (just had a birthday lately and I do feel old..lol) and I found one that brings back such good memories.
In 1958, when I was 3 years old, my Mom was a Sunday School Teacher and I would go with her and spend the day. My task, was to sweep up the class room when she was done. I honestly think it was her way of keeping me busy and out of her way while she did her thing...lol.
In this picture, I am 3 and the broom is a big as I am. I remember this and I smile big when I think of how I struggled with that broom and trying to hold it like my Mom showed me. The only way I could accomplish that was to sweep the floor toward me. All that dust was at my feet and that was not the way it was when my Mom did it...But I was determined and it was my job...lol
I apologize for the condition of the photo, but I just could not use any other remake or copy. This is the original and it has a lot of meaning to me. Good memories!!

I feel old...lol
Living in Washington State, you have to take advantage of every sunny day there is. So, this weekend was sunny for 2, count them, 2 days in a row.. WOW... I spent so much of the time bent over weeding and pruning and planting, I woke up this morning feeling like I had ages 10 years.
It was all worth it, the yard is in awesome shape, plants have great color and bloom, so the only thing I am waiting on now is the garden to catch up with the time of year. I wonder if I will be able to can my veggies this year or if we will run out of "summer" before I get the chance.
Over this past weekend, other things went very well and AWESOME... We now have an additional desiger, Carla Oliveira. We have followed her for a while and we just could not pass up the chance to offer her an opportunity to design for The Hens' Den. SHE ACCEPTED!. You really need to check out her blog and see the wonderful work that she does. http://carlascuriouslycraftychaos.blogspot.com/. You will be amazed. We are so lucky and honored. Stop by her blog and leave her a note or two.

(I am learning about taking pictures. The angle is all wrong. Makes it look like I made a lopsided layout. ugh..dont have the layout to retake pic)

Butterfly kisses
A friend of mine had to lay her dog to rest unexpectedly. Kayee was a true member of her family. This layout is a trubuite to that love.
The paper line is by Bo Bunny, Gabrielle. Flowers are byFancy Pants and of course, I had to use Tim Holtz and Teresa Collins Bling.

Celebrating 60
I had so much fun planning my Husband's 60th birthday. He is so intuitive, it can be darn hard to surprise him. I am so happy and proud, I surprise the heck out of him. It started with me handing him his suitcase (from behind him, he did not see me coming) and I told him he was "leaving". The look on his face, priceless....I had to quickly get to the next punch line so he would not take me seriously. I told him he has to pack certain cloths and be ready to leave by 1pm the next day.. I then have him a "honey do" list that would keep him busy the next morning, starting with dropping me off at work (a rare thing). Dogs to the kennel (poor puppies) and then a trip to
Tacoma and back to pick me up at 1pm.
He kept asking me if we were "driving" to our destination and of course I said yes...lol (we were driving to the air port) I waited until we got one exit from the airport exit before I told him he needed to take the airport exit. The look of fear hit his face...lol.
Once at the airport, his sweat started coming on. He HATES flying. I did not tell him where we were going until it was necessary to go to our gate. LAS VEGAS bound. (he is not a gambler). This set about a puzzled look on his face. "Why are we going to Vegas?"....not telling, you will have to wait for it to unfold.
The first night there was HELL. Check in was not fun, getting stuck in the elevator was not fun. (neither of us like small places, sweat sets in). Door to our room would not open unless you put your weight behind it and hit really hard...geezzzz... After cooling off from frustration, I hit the casino floor and went back to the room with a few extra dollars then I started with. All is good, Glenn in a good mood. Next...he is still asking why we were there. I still have not told him the real reason...hehehehehe.
The next day was spent walking the strip in 95 degree heat (ugh), a nice show, Criss Angle and back to the room. Saturday Morning, I got him up, told him he needed to be down stairs at Valet at 8 am..'WHY SO EARLY"...LOL... You have a ride to take!. Where? Not telling, you have to wait and see. More laughter on my part...lol. 30 mins later, he is at the Las Vegas Speedway..."there are no races here this weekend, why are we here?"....Just wait and see, I say (laughing). We get around to the very inside of the track where the pits are and his mouth flops open. "WHAT?" He saw the sign "Exotic Racing"...dummy me.. I did not have my camera on. The look was priceless.
Yes, Dear, you get to race a Ferrari around the track. Priceless!! When he was done, all he could say was "WOW" for the next half hour.
Happy 60th Honey...Kiss Kiss
Drooling over the cars
I can not believe I am here
Time to get ready
Breathing deeply
GOOOOO!
10 laps later....that grin never left his face for the remainder of the day.

Soiree by Pink Paislee
This is the first layout that I did. Taking the cut-outs, I made a 2nd layout. This is such wonderful and fun paper to play with. This little sweetie is the daughter of a friend, Courtney and Bill Dutra. Thank you for allowing me to play with your pictures. Look below for the 2nd layout.

Soiree by Pink Paislee
This paper is so much fun. I so appreciate Courtney Dutra for allowing me to use her photo's for this layout. I have Grandson's, so this is very special.
The inner pages are cutouts from another layout that I did. I did not want the paper to go to waste, so I used them and layerd to create this layout.

Sports Edition II by Teresa Collins
Meet Kasjan
My most favorite horse. I bought him when he was 2.5 yrs old and I kept him until he was 21 yrs old. When I found Sjan (Shawn), he was in a box stall (4x8) and he was standing up to his hocks in his own poo. He had no tail, no color too his coat and you could see every rib he had. I could go on but I will cry..hard. I looked in his eyes and I saw such spirit and life and I bought him on the spot. On my way home the realization hit me that I may have to put him down. He was is such bad shape. But I could not get his eyes out of my mind. There was life in those eyes. There was love in his heart. He just needed a chance. So, I took a leap of faith and made the commitment to keep him and try really hard to get him healthy again. It took me two years and he became my best friend.
Sjan and I would run around the pasture, him with his tail high in the air and his head held high, blowing through his nostril's, and me hiding behind trees teasing him. We would play like that all the time. When we were not playing hide and seek, he would stick his tongue out at me and I would grab it and pull really hard.. He thought that was fun, for me it was goooooiiiiieeee....lol
He is now with a delightful young lady and she is having such a grand time with him. The two of them are winning lots of ribbons and they are so proud to have him.
Sjan is such a good boy. I miss him deeply.
Wild Spirit by IOD
Vienna is such a love. The day I saw her, I knew she had to come home with me. So cute, she walked up to me and put her head on my chest. I took that as "I want to come home with you" and she did. Vienna has a lot of grace and patience. She has had two babies and what a wonderful Mom she was. Gental and kind. She loved to share her babies with everone and was not one bit afraid for herself or her baby. I loved to hug her around her neck and breath deeply that wonderful smell that horses have. I miss her and long to hug her again.
Miss Allie. What a spirit she has. She is spicey and sassy. She has none of her Mother in her. (FX Vienna Waltz) She is every bit her Fathers daughter, *Aladdinn. Attitude all the way. *Aladdinn passed on in 2009 at the age of 35. Allie now lives with a wonderful young lady and they show around the Arabian circut a lot. I miss her sassy attitude. I miss her elegance.
